Steps
to Becoming a Christian
By Rev. Kirby
The steps
to becoming a Christian are simple:
1. Admit that you are a sinner in need of salvation.
2. Pray and ask God to forgive
you of your sin.
3. Invite him to come into
your life and ask him to help you live your life for him.
You are now ready to start your new journey
with God. To begin with, it is important that you leave your old lifestyle behind. God will strengthen you and help you to walk away from your old lifestyle.
It is also important that you take steps
to enrich your spiritual life. You will want to find a good Bible-believing church,
where the Scriptures are taught and salvation is preached. Make friends within the church; you'll need them for support and
help.
Buy a good modern translation of the Bible.
I prefer the New International Version, but the New King James and New American Standard versions are also very good.
Start by reading the Gospel of John, then
First Thessalonians. These books are found in the second half of the Bible, called
the New Testament. Read at least one chapter a day, asking God to help your understanding.
I suggest that you get a devotional guide.
If you have Internet access, go to http://www.rbc.org/odb/odb.shtml for a brief daily Bible reading and commentary.
You can order a devotional guidebook from the same organization by writing to RBC Ministries, PO Box 2222, Grand Rapids,
MI, 49501.
