Dear “Pride at Work”,

I am writing this open letter to you because you are an affiliated AFL-CIO constituency group whose purpose is to mobilize support between organized labor and the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender groups. I am requesting that you Release the AFL-CIO leadership, especially it’s president, John Sweeney. He won’t listen to his own Christian members on the state & federal marriage amendments because it seems that you have a hold on him.

This AFL-CIO resolution opposes federal and state constitutional amendments to define marriage exclusively as a union between a man and a woman.

 “PLEASE RELEASE JOHN SWEENEY”. Workers need him to help fight the loss of their jobs and to better spend his time working on “genuine” worker related issues that are devastating the workforce today. Issues like healthcare cutbacks and the jobs that are being restructured and exported away.

 “PLEASE RELEASE JOHN SWEENEY”. So that he may again recognize his Christian workers who live according to the Word of God and their Bible, which says the practice of homosexuality is an abomination to God.

 

Leviticus 18:22 NIV)  "'Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.

(Rom 1:26-32 NIV)  Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. {27} in the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. {28} Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. {32} Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

 

President Sweeney has chosen to support those who practice homosexuality and men marrying men and women marrying women over the profound disapproval of his members who live in Judeo-Christian families. Please explain to him in terms he will understand that this issue has nothing to do with labor, because it is a moral issue and he is on the wrong side of the table.

“PLEASE RELEASE JOHN SWEENEY”. Explain to him that those who choose to practice homosexuality already have the same equal rights as other workers and there really is no civil rights or human rights discrimination involved. Blacks were discriminated against because of their color and not their lifestyle. This issue is about chosen lifestyle. Today, America’s Black religious leaders, some of whom co-signed the letter with me and were marching in lockstep with unions for the civil rights of Blacks many years ago, are now marching in lockstep against the union official’s anti-Biblical stand and refusal to protect marriage and the family.

 “PLEASE RELEASE JOHN SWEENEY”. From being so attached to your agenda so that he may listen closer to the Christian workers who make up the bulk of the workforce. Show him how he has arbitrarily pushed through the agenda of those practicing homosexuality without any fair and open debate or meaningful voice from the workforce and the union’s Christian members. Explain to him that this issue is very divisive and has the power to rip the AFL-CIO apart.

“PLEASE RELEASE” JOHN SWEENEY”. So he may understand that unions under the AFL-CIO umbrella have blindly capitulated and gone along with him to be politically correct because of his example. Help him understand that no one is trying to take away any rights that those who chose to practice homosexuality already have. They just want rights that they are not entitled to. They are not husbands and wives, they are not a Biblical family and they never will be.  (Gen 1:27 NIV)  {27} So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

 

They just want to be considered married so they can tap into the already beleaguered negotiated benefit and pension plans for their same-sex partners who don’t work for the companies. The already troubled hard won benefit plans that workers and their families depend on and have paid for over decades of strikes and negotiations. They are doing this with the blessings of AFL-CIO officials.

State after state has passed ban after ban on the right for men to marry men and women to marry women, and workers are vehemently against their union officials on these moral issues.

 America’s union officials are being blindsided by the people that practice homosexuality. You at PAW are using the union’s power and influence to legitimize and promote the lifestyle of those who choose to practice homosexuality at the expense of the union’s own Christian members. The ultra liberal direction the union officials have been going in all areas is apprehensible to Christian workers.

 “PLEASE RELEASE THE UNION OFFICIALS” that you are shamefully using so they may regain their dignity.

 

In conclusion, the line has been drawn in the sand and has never been clearer. Whether workers are Democrat, Republican or Independent and whether they are autoworkers, Wal-Mart employees, housewives, schoolteachers or preachers they will either stand or fight on this issue or their families will fall. If we are to avoid the destruction of marriage, we must pass a federal constitutional amendment to preserve the one-man, one-woman marriage. Throughout millennia every nation and every religious faith has supported the one-man, one-woman marriage, which has advanced society, given a balanced home life to our children and stability to our civilizations.

Our children have to live in this nation after we are gone and they will never forgive us if we squander this opportunity to protect marriage for them and their future families.
